Live Cricket Score: New Zealand vs Pakistan, 2nd T20I, Hamilton

Despite some late slowdown and a dropped catch off the last ball, New Zealand have crossed over the line yet again comfortably to secure a 2-0 series lead. Tim Seifert and Kane Williamson’s unbeaten half-centuries proved enough for New Zealand to overhaul a total that was largely setup by Mohammad Hafeez’s single-handed unbeaten 99. New Zealand won the second T20I by 9 wickets.

FIFTY Amidst all of Tim Seifert’s aggressive batting, yet again Kane Williamson has scored a fine fifty – effective if not the most outstanding.

Kane Williamson, who was playing the second fiddle in the second wicket partnership with Tim Seifert so far, has now started pressing the foot on the accelerator, taking him on for a boundary and a six off successive deliveries in the 13th over.

FIFTY Tim Seifert’s second consecutive fifty has led New Zealand’s chase smoothly. Without much hassle, without too many risks and taking advantage of the loose deliveries, he has helped New Zealand to a strong start in the chase.

After some reasonably quiet overs, Tim Seifert has got moving with three sixes off Wahab Riaz. The keeper-batsman has used his pull shots to good effect to counterattack the Pakistan pacer’s short deliveries.72/1 in 8 overs

WICKET Martin Guptill falls after a quick start. The New Zealand opener finds the fielder at deep mid wicket while looking to pull Faheem Ashraf for a six. 35/1 in 3.3 overs

In one of the finest innings of Mohammad Hafeez’s long-career, the veteran right-hander finished unbeaten on 99 with a last-ball six to help Pakistan to 163 for 6, a competitive total if not a winning one. He revived the visitors from a tight spot they found themselves in after losing three wickets in the powerplay. Tim Southee, the pick of the New Zealand bowlers, returned four wickets

WICKETKhushdil Shah isn’t as fortunate as Hafeez. In a bid to hit Ish Sodhi past the boundary ropes, he gets caught by Martin Guptill in the deep.119/4 in 16 overs

FIFTY Mohammad Hafeez was dropped on 45 but he has made a good use of that opportunity to bring up a fifty, which has helped Pakistan keep themselves afloat in this contest. He has also put on a half-century stand in company of Khushdil Shah for the fifth wicket, playing the major role of the enforcer.

Mohammad Hafeez is playing a lone hand here for Pakistan, who have struggled to get a move on in their innings even at the half-way mark.

WICKETSouthee is in action again. This time as a fielder. Shadab Khan is late on his pull shot and top edges it to Southee at short mid wicket.56/4 in 8.2 overs

THIRD STRIKE!Tim Southee has struck again. Mohammad Rizwan is lured into a drive and sets caught edging to the ‘keeper.. The hosts have already lost their top three in the powerplay.

WICKETS: Southee strikes twice

Haider Ali lofts him over long on for six but Southee has the last laugh, getting him caught at mid off. It gets even better for Southee as Abdullah Shafique gets a big leading edge while trying a slog and offers a simple return catch in the same over.

TOSS Pakistan have won the toss and elected to bat. Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson have returned to the side.
